About the Project
The Safar Series is a series of short books for children, which feature earnest and sincere Karan the Kachhua and his feisty sidekick, Eibadat the Baby Elephant. Together, they travel across India, making friends and encountering different societies and social issues; in each book, they discover how social problems impact people differently, and how they can only be addressed together.
While the books are a delight to everyone, they have been recorded as audiobooks specially for visually impaired children, so that literature by children for children is accessible to all. The series focuses especially on India’s diversity, both in terms of its terrain and people, and wishes to transport its readers/listeners to different parts of the country.
Our aim is to make such resources more accessible and more abundant. Safar series volumes are short stories that can be heard in one go, and feature relatable and likable characters who solve problems.
